PEGASUS NEO is a professional active loudspeaker system with built-in digital processor, designed for the use in mid-sized indoor or outdoor spaces. Derived from the acclaimed PEGASUS, the new system includes a series of acoustical, mechanical and electronic modifications introduced in order to reach the following targets:
- reduce the weight of the enclosures with the use of NEODYMIUM speakers and SWITCHING power supply in the amplifier module;
- optimize the cabinet construction in order to improve the transport, the handling and the installation;
- optimize the amplification module project (power amplifier + digital processor) in order to improve the performance and the
reliability; - increase the overall quality of the processing algorithms and the number of features and improve the remote control system.
MECHANICAL FEATURES
The plywood cabinet of PEGASUS 212N features an improved flying system, including 4 + 4 M10 flying points with internal
reinforcing bracket. The new metal grid, supported by a horizontal bracket, is covered on the internal side by a special fabric guaranteeing the best protection for the loudspeakers against dust and humidity. The cabinet of PEGASUS 118N has been completely re-designed: the new trapezoidal shape allows it to be combined also with POSEIDON 212N and with PROTEUS 215N, while two additional metal handles have been added for an easier handling. A special protection cover with four wheels can be applied to the front guaranteeing the maximum protection and the easiest transport.
ACOUSTICAL FEATURES
All the PEGASUS NEO systems loudspeakers have been replaced with new versions featuring NEODYMIUM magnets, obtaining a substantial reduction in weight and higher SPL values. In particular, the new 2” NEO driver with 3” voice-coil used in PEGASUS 212N features an increase of more than 3dB of SPL and a surprisingly flat frequency response. Thanks to the use of the new 18” NEO woofer with 4” voice-coil, the weight of PEGASUS 118N has been reduce of an amazing 7kg!
ELECTRONIC FEATURES
Thanks to an advanced SWITCHING power supply system with POWER FACTOR correction, the new PEGASUS NEO amplification module is now 5kg lighter than before. In addition to that, the SWITCHING power supply features a great stability and an extremely high and constant efficiency, independent from the mains voltage. The power switch has been removed and replaced by a circuit breaker, in order to fulfill the requests of the professional users. Thanks to a new version of the custom DPS RED208 and to a new generation of 24bit converters, the accuracy and the definition of the internal processing is now at the highest levels in this product range.
SOFTWARE FEATURES and REMOTE CONTROL
The PC-based software for the processor’s remote control has been completely re-designed in order to make both connections
and operation the easiest possible. The remote control is now performed thru a serial network based only on the RS485 standard, as a guarantee for a higher speed and a better stability. The processing algorithms have been greatly improved in order to obtain the best sound quality and to introduce new important features, such as a powerful dynamic EQ, the real time display of the status of several units and their grouping.
